Celsius First, formerly Frigoscandia Distribution, has opened a new 8,000-pallet extension at its primary distribution facility at Portbury, Bristol. Built by construction company Bluestone, the extension was opened ahead of schedule following a 33-week building programme.
The -28°C chamber adds another 8,000 pallets to the existing 21,000-pallet cold store. It features a state-of-the-art cross-docking facility for both frozen and chilled product.
Paul Pegg, managing director of temperature-controlled supply chain specialist Celsius First, says: “The new extension will further enhance the successful service and consolidation opportunities offered by our Bristol site and will also provide significant extra capacity for handling temperature-controlled foods both into and out of the South-west of England.”
