Wickes Building Supplies has taken a ten-year lease – at a rent of about £7 per sq ft – on a 12,077sq m distribution warehouse on Maximate, Maxted Road, Hemel Hempstead, from the Co-Operative Insurance Society (CIS).
Steve Horne, director of distribution at Wickes, comments: “As part of our ongoing expansion plans we sought a distribution facility, preferably in the northern M25 region, capable of sustaining our growing business and Maximate provided us with an existing available opportunity.”
Robert Hall, director at sole letting agent DTZ Debenham Tie Leung, says: “This letting represents one of the most significant industrial property deals in the South-east in 2003, and is symbolic of the re-emerging occupier interest within the warehousing distribution sector which had been relatively quiet in the last 12 months.”
DTZ advised CIS while Wickes was advised by The Lloyd Fraser Group.
