UCI Logistics has picked up more trade from Land Rover – it is now responsible for the manufacturer’s inbound supply chain across the UK and continental Europe. The extra business is the latest stage in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing processes across the Premier Automotive Group, with each supply chain in the group being re-engineered to enable the reversal from push to pull.
The new operation comprises the collection of all Land Rover components from UK-based vendors and delivery to Land Rover’s Solihull plant on a just-in-time (JIT) basis. UCI now makes more than 2,000 collections a week from 540-plus active vendors based throughout continental Europe and the UK.
