Arca Systems has developed a new returnable crate that meets the special needs of the dairy industry. Produced in conjunction with Finnish food business Valio, the new product is a special combination crate, designed with a choice of insert, which keeps packs of cheese and butter or yogurt pots secure during storage and distribution to the retailer.
The crate and insert are made from polypropylene. On arrival at stores, the inserts can be removed to leave attractive display units for the products. Once used, crates and inserts stack together for return to the dairy and reuse.
Arca says that manufacturers using this system should be able to make further savings by extending their use of reusable packaging.
