International Business Systems (IBS) has signed a global agreement with SKF covering the IBS’ software, hosting and services for supplier collaboration on the WEB EDI solution within Purchasing and Planning.
SKF is the leading global supplier of products, customer solutions and services in the rolling bearing, seals business and related business. The SKF business is organised into five divisions; Industrial, Automotive, Electrical, Service, and Aero and Steel. Each division serves a global market, focusing on its specific customer segments.
The group expects to achieve substantial savings and process improvement, using current investments in EDI combined with the IBS WEB solutions to optimise sourcing. The solution will be complementary to SKF’s current EDI solution, and will extend the collaboration to reach a major part of all SKF’s suppliers that are not able of handling EDI. Initially, the contract covers 15 countries.
The application supports major logistics processes, from sourcing to deliveries and invoicing with complementary alert handling covering all deviations in the complete process.
“Integration and communication with suppliers is a prioritised issue in the development of SKF’s supply chain” says one Fred Orre, group supply chain director, SKF. “SKF considers WEB EDI as an important complement to traditional EDI, and it will mainly be used for communication with small and medium-size suppliers.”
