The Mezzanine Floor Company has beaten off stiff competition to win a £1M contract from Dürr, the UK subsidiary of the Stuttgart-based multinational technology giant, to provide platforms to be used in the manufacture of the wings for the prestigious Airbus A380 project. The company will design, supply and install multi-level work platforms to surround the wings of the Airbus, which at more than 45m along their longest edge, are the largest ever, designed and built for a commercial aircraft.
Mezzanine was awarded the contract based upon its strong technical proficiency and its long-standing record of undertaking similarly sized contracts for prestigious clients.
Three workstation platforms, covering 7,500sq m, are to be built at the Airbus factory in Broughton, North Wales. Once assembled, the wings will be delivered by specially commissioned barges and ships to the A380 final assembly line in Toulouse, France.
