Colgate-Palmolive has contracted P&O Ferrymasters to distribute up to 700 loads a year from Anzio in Italy to the UK. The deal covers products ranging from toothpastes and toothbrushes to bar soap, household cleaners, shower and bath products.
Adding to its already extensive distribution service from Italy, for some of the UK’s leading brands, the new operation for Colgate-Palmolive involves Ferrymasters collecting goods from Anzio, near Rome, and transporting them via rail to Zeebrugge for forwarding to the UK. On arrival at Immingham, Ferrymasters’ intermodal containers transport goods to Colgate-Palmolive’s distribution centre near Leeds.
“Having been approached by Colgate-Palmolive, we were delighted to secure the business following a successful tender process,” says Philippe Doré, of Ferrymasters. “More and more of our customers are benefiting from similar multimodal long-haul routes that deliver cost efficiency.”
