KNW Retail Solutions, the joint venture between Kuehne & Nagel and Wincanton, has been contracted by Hamleys to act as its international supply chain management partner. Following a comprehensive tender process, KNW’s ability to provide innovative supply chain solutions through leading edge information technology proved instrumental in Hamleys awarding the deal.
This is instrumental in the toy retailer’s strategic plans to develop overseas sourcing and the ongoing franchisee programme.
Supply chain information provided through KNW’s systems will give Hamleys the ability to pick franchisee orders at origin and transport them direct to the respective markets in China, Australia, the Republic of Ireland, Sweden and Kuwait in a direct to store format. Hamleys will benefit from reduced costs created by greater efficiency at destination.
Hamleys’ IT and logistics manager, Andy Hopkins, comments: “KNW was able to demonstrate a solution a solution which is already successfully operating in other high street retailers and showed an impressive empathy with retail business.”
Hayden Organ, managing director of KNW, says: Our colleagues at Wincanton and Kuehne & Nagel will be instrumental in making the Hamleys vision a reality, taking product right from the factory through to final delivery, providing the command and control structure to support Hamleys supply chain objectives.”
