Royal Mail’s new 24,386sq m national distribution hub building at the DIRFT Logistics Park, alongside the M1’s J18 and the West Coast Rail Line, has been delivered on time and on budget by developer DIRFT, a subsidiary of Severn Trent Property.
Paul Ludlow, managing director of Severn Trent Property and pictured below with Royal Mail Logistics managing director Paul Bateson, describes the 27-week construction operation as a major feat: “The successful operation is largely due to the close relationship between the professional team and the building contractor together with the very clear and professional brief assembled by the client.
The completion of the Royal Mail hub is another significant milestone in the on-going development of DIRFT Logistics Park.”
The distribution hub, which began the first stages of a phased opening on September 1, occupies a 29-acre site and has 110 loading bays. Its completion brings the total so far developed on the 364-acre park to about 232,250sq m.
