GB Railfreight has launched a new daily container train service from the Port of Felixstowe to the Midlands which is expected to save about 20,000 lorry trips on the A14, which runs between Felixstowe and Leicestershire. The service runs from the Port’s North Terminal to ABP Connect’s Hams Hall Railfreight Terminal near Coleshill.
Unlike many other services, the train does not rely on long-term contracts and is open to any shipper.
GB Railfreight business development director Phil McGrath explains: “This new service meets the market need for those who prefer to ‘turn up and go’. Space is available to any shipper who wants to move as little as one container.”
