Corby-based freshly squeezed fruit juice manufacturer Orchard House Foods (OHF) has turned to using temporary storage to cope with an increase in production and business expansion. The company has taken delivery of several Chill It portable cold stores on long-term lease.
The units comprise two SR31 cold stores from Chill It’s Superior range and a 14-pallet freezer. OHF supply chain manager Adrian Calnan says: “We showed Chill It the space we had available and they performed a site survey. Chill It then came up with a solution for optimum fit, which positioned the two units side by side with an insert joining them together. The linked complex has greatly increased our capacity in a relatively small space.”
OHF also took on a 37-pallet unit from Chill It for storing raw fruit. The extra height on the doors accommodate fruit deliveries from the Continent, which are in taller pallets. and speeds up loading time.
Calnan says: We may look to permanent cold storage in the future, but we need temporary storage as a stop-gap in a developing market.”
