Davis Derby’s TruckLOG system has been selected by soft drinks manufacturer Britvic for its fleet of 16 forklift trucks at its Bramley, Leeds site.
TruckLog is a fleet management system which monitors, measures and controls events by focusing on safety, usage and downtime as well as damage and abuse, effectively reducing the costs associated with operating a trucks fleet. The system is automated and provides easy-to-read reports to meet customer needs.
Britvic’s fleet at the Leeds site comprises 11 forklifts, four pedestrian trucks and a pallet stacker. The installation of TruckLOG was to capture damages.
Mick Sharp, logistics training coordinator at the site, has reported a noticeable improve in health and safety as well as reduced repair costs. He says: “Forklift trucks are dangerous in the hands of unauthorised personnel or when improperly used. TruckLOG exposes dangerous and careless use, not only reporting the precise second that impact occurs but also pinpointing who is responsible.”
Sharp continues: “Savings are evident already. Since installing the system in November 2002 we have spent less than £300 on repairs to our fleet. This is a saving of approximately 80% of our normal costs. We have also seen about a 20-25% reduction in rack and goods damages since installing the system.”
