Rugby, the cement and other cementicious product provider within the RMC Group, and logistics partner TNT have been supplied with 115 state-of-the-art Volvo FM12 6×2 tractor units on a five-year service and maintenance contract with Volvo dealers Crossroads Truck & Bus in West Yorkshire, Volvo Truck & Bus (South) at Coventry and MC Truck & Bus in Kent.
The Volvos, which feature the Swedish manufacturer’s I-shift automatic gearbox, Globetrotter cabs and in-cab screens linked to reversing cameras, are operating from depots in Rochester, Tilbury, Rugby, Doncaster and South Ferriby. They are being used to transport pressurised tankers containing dry powders and 250 drivers are being trained to operate the vehicles – vehicle and driver performance is monitored via Dynafleet Online, which promotes greater control of fleet and driver performance.
TNT Logistics has been contracted by Rugby for the past three years to manage its distribution and the introduction of the new Volvos followed months of research and testing.
