Nearly half of companies in the food industry feel that poor collaboration in the supply chain “is a real barrier to food safety”, a new report by Deloitte & Touche and CMi Consulting reveals.
According to the report – Delivering Integrity in the End-to-End Food Supply Chain – the perception of respondents is that the greatest risks are back up the supply chain with the vast majority (90%) viewing farmers as high risk. Manufacturers do not fare any better with 86% of respondents ranking them as high or the highest risk.
And nearly 70% of the respondents agree that there is significant conflict between current commercial pressures in the marketplace and the need for greater focus and investment to address supply chain integrity and food safety issues.
