Global leader in supply chain management Exel, has recently announced that it has extended its existing contract with Verlagsunion, one of the largest magazine distributors in Germany. The deal, which has been extended to now include reverse logistics, will involve retrieving CDs, DVDs, surprise bags and toy supplements that are no longer required by retailers on Verlagsunion’s behalf.
The two companies have worked together for seven years developing innovative logistics solutions for the German magazine market, which includes the largest number of special interest titles worldwide.
Exel manages the returns of 5 million copies that are distributed across 500 different outlets. The company also manages the recycling of waste paper from outdated, damaged magazines and other items that can no longer be used.
A team of twelve Exel staff manage the Verlagsunion relationship from a state-of-the-art facility in Hünxe, Germany. Alexander Schneider, Exel’s site manager says: “Over the last seven years Exel has developed a close relationship with Verlagsunion. This extension of our contract with them is testimony to the high quality of work that we deliver.”
