The rail freight network in London will be unable to cope with demand over the next ten years. And this could lead to more freight being moved by road, increasing congestion and damaging London’s economy as a result.
The key pinch points and hotspots for freight movement on London’s rail network have been identified by the FTA and the Rail Freight Group, which are both urging Transport for London (TfL) to incorporate the findings into their fledgling London Freight Plan.
FTA and the Rail Freight Group began work on freight forecasting using the GB Freight Model developed by MDS Transmodal earlier this year.
