According to research by eBay, there are expected to be 450,000 new listings on the web site on Christmas Day. A further one million will be uploaded by the end of Boxing Day.
eBay has attributed this to unwanted Christmas presents, finding that 47 per cent of British people are expected to receive an unwanted gift. The online marketplace has said that this equates to a potential 99 million unwanted presents with a value of £1,232 million.
Between 7pm and 8pm on Christmas Day, eBay expects over 50,000 items to be listed. On Boxing Day, 75,000 listings are expected between 10 and 11am, while between 8pm and 9pm it is estimated there will be 85,000 listings.
