Dave Lunt has been appointed operations manager for the Haydock department of Rhys Davies Freight Logistics. Lunt brings more than 25 years experience in the distribution industry to the role. His previous post was central distribution manager for Unichem. Rhys Davies recently opened a new 45,000 sq ft depot at Haydock which is the latest addition to the group’s national stock and distribution network. Haydock is a secure site and runs a full stock control management system, tailored to customer needs.
John Robb has been appointed managing director of DTS Logistics. Robb joins the team having worked in the logistics and transport industry for 20 years. Most recently his roles have included working as managing director of operations for Wincanton, where he rose from business unit director to managing director in six years. Prior to this, Robb spent six years in a number of operational logistics roles at Burton Group and four years at Marks & Spencer, where he worked in various commercial and operational positions across the UK. His responsibilities include maintaining the successful integration of DTS Logistics into the Clipper Group and delivering operational and commercial success of the DTS Logistics arm within the group.
Roger King, chief executive of the Road Haulage Association has been elected the vice president of the Goods Transport Council at the recent annual general meeting of the International Road Transport Union (IRU). He said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to play a part in the formulation of IRU policies in connection with international road haulage. “The industry faces many challenges, the most critical being fuel prices and taxation. In an increasingly globalised world, we need the strength of a united industry view to drive home the case for road haulage. In particular we need to strengthen the industry’s voice in Brussels so that we can influence at a far earlier stage the formulation of future directions.” His two year term of office starts in January 2006.
Adam Bradley has taken up a senior sales position at Secureseal, the manufacturer of trailer security seals and RFID transport management systems. Bringing 10 years of experience in the transport industry, Bradley was previously with overnight carrier ANC Express. His three years in corporate sales at ANC followed seven years at Carpet Express.
