Business support director for Exel in the Netherlands, Peter van der Meij, was recently decorated as Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau by Karla Peijs, the Dutch Secretary of State for Transport.
Van der Meij, was presented the award during the annual Transport Logistiek Nederland Congress. The Congress is one of The Netherlands’ most important authorities in the logistics industry, and presented Van der Meij with the royal Dutch distinction for his innovative contribution to the spectacular growth of Exel in The Netherlands.
He has worked for the Company in various management positions over the last 20 years.
Minster Karla Pijs said: “Exel has literally extended its logistical boundaries whilst under Peter’s innovative control.” The decoration is also royal recognition of Van der Meij’s numerous sideline activities including his position as vice-chairman of TLN, the Dutch transport and logistics trade organisation, and his chairmanship of the Enterprises Contact Group in Veghel.
Van der Meij held the position of vocational officer for thirteen years with the Royal Netherlands Army until 1985. His accomplishments include important achievements as the transport coordinator of the four-day walking event in Nijmegen and the creation of camp Heumensoord.
