Container transport specialist, W Carter (Haulage), a part of the CEL Group, has replaced 61 of its premium duty tractor unit fleet with MAN TGA 26.430 6×2 units – all with MAN’s TipMatic automatic gearboxes. The company says that fuel efficiency from MAN’s D20 engine was the fundamental reason in selecting the TGA product, after a long-term D20 demonstrator had shown impressive initial fuel returns.
Supplied through MAN ERF’s main Truck Centre in Suffolk, MAN ERF Felixstowe, Carters latest order is fitted with XL and XXL cabs. Around half the fleet was acquired through MAN Financial Services.
Managing director Shaun Allen said: MAN’s TipMatic auto boxes bring a consistency to the operation. It brings all our drivers onto a level playing field, and we know we are optimising productivity as a result. We’ve also noticed less wear-and-tear on the driveline.”
