The proposed strike action, involving 250 warehouse staff at JJB’s national distribution centre, has been narrowly avoided.
The strike action, which was over pay and working hours, was called off last week following an improved offer from the management. Executive director and founder of JJB Sports, David Whelan, stepped in to help settle the dispute by increasing the pay offer to five percent.
A spokesman for the GMB said that the decision not to strike was extremely tight at 50.5% of the majority. He added that: “We will be resuming negotiations in the new year.”
