The UK business of Kookai, the women’s fashion chain, has announced that it has gone into administration.
600 jobs have come directly under threat as administrators from Deloitte have been appointed to handle the sale of Adjustbetter. Adjustbetter which is a unit of Forminster, operates all 55 Kookai outlets in the UK. Neville Kahn, a partner at Deloitte, the joint administrators, said: “Trading pre-Christmas stood up very well but was hampered by there not being enough clothes on hangers.” He said that the shops will remain open and he hopes to find a trade buyer for the 25 leasehold sites and 30 concessions “within weeks”.
