While celebrating its recent entry into the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list, Prohire has added Humber Sea Terminals Limited, part of the Simon Group plc, to its growing list of clients. The Staffordshire based contract hire and leasing specialist is to supply the company with 14 semi-automatic gearbox Iveco Stralis AS 440S43TXP tractor units on a five year contract. The units feature midlift axles for use with specialised tipping trailers.
The operations of Humber Sea Terminals at North Killingholme, Immingham, include the movement of bulk product for import and export, in and off the port as well as the operation of significant Ro-Ro and Lo-Lo port facility.
Paul Barker, general manager of Simon Warehousing and Distribution said: “Contract hire is by no means a new concept for us, but our use of Prohire takes things a stage further than the simple supply of vehicles. Prohire provides a genuine vehicle management service which frees us of the administrative burden and lets us concentrate on our core business.”
The Ivecos are the Simon Group’s first with auto gear boxes and have proved an immediate hit with drivers. Colin Walton, Prohire’s chief executive officer said: “We have promoted the use of the auto box Stralis since its inception. It is better for the driver’s health and safety and it provides better fuel economy. An additional feature of these units is the low fifth wheel height, which we have fitted to accommodate the customer’s need to fit the trailer under a loading gantry and maximise load capacity.”
