Lex Logistics has invested £20m to acquire a new 268,000 sq ft site at Buckshaw Village, Chorley, Lancashire.
The deal signals the start of Chorley’s 100 acre Strategic Regional Site at Buckshaw Village, designed to attract quality businesses to the area.
The move is the result of two of years of complex planning with Chorley Borough Council, BAE Systems and house builders Redrow and Barratt.
“The relocation of the distribution centre is a major strategic step in our plans for the future,” said managing director, Deven Thakrar. “There is still a lot of work to do, but with everyone pulling in the same direction, this new site will enable us not only to pursue new business opportunities but, also, help us to continue to provide inspirational service to our existing clients and customers and offer further value adding services.”
Building work on the new facility will commence shortly and Lex intends to relocate its operations there later in the year.
