DJ Flynn haulage has taken delivery of a new 32 tonne Seddon Atkinson 8×4 Strato, to work across Merseyside on its contract with Hanson.
Supplied by Sherwood Commercial Vehicles, the Strato is equipped with an 8m3 MacPhee cement mixer body and will soon be joined by a second similar vehicle, which has been purchased from Seddon Atkinson’s demonstrator fleet.
Dominic Flynn, managing director, says: “If you look on paper at what you are buying with a Seddon Atkinson, then the technical specification is equal if not better than a lot of the leading brands on the market. When I buy a new truck I select it for its capabilities, and not for the badge.”
“The Strato represents good value for money and has a proven reliability record for this type of work. I already have one Cursor-powered vehicle in the fleet and I simply can’t fault it – it hasn’t skipped a beat in four years,” he explains.
The new vehicle will be in operation five and a half days a week delivering concrete to construction sites, and is expected to remain in operation with DJ Flynn for at least seven years.
The Strato is powered by a 7.8 litre Cursor 8 engine which is capable of producing 350hp at 2,400 rev/min and up to 1,280 Nm of torque between 1,080 and 1,930 rev/min, driven through a 16 speed ZF gearbox and Meritor axles.
