Starsmore & Son, has introduced a new Volvo FH12 tractor unit into its fleet of seven trucks.
The Cambridgeshire agricultural haulier, sourced the FH12 from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre at Peterborough, and will operate it for four years.
The FH12 is a 6×2, 460bhp artic with automated I-Shift gearbox and Globetrotter cab in ‘Prestige’ trim, as well as polished alloy wheels, light bars and upright exhausts. Director Adrian Starsmore said: “We chose a Volvo this time round after some good work by the Salesman, Neil Crouchman and a week with a demonstration vehicle,” says Director Adrian Starsmore. “Our driver loved it and I took the new truck to Southampton myself the other day – didn’t feel like I’d done a days work!
He said: “Fuel performance was a key factor and that was the reasoning behind choosing the I-Shift gearbox. We are expecting to see some savings there.” The artic will pull a bulk tipping trailer supplied by United Trailers carrying agricultural products such as peas and beans on behalf of Wherry & Sons based in Bourne, Lincs where the truck will operate from.
“I’d like to thank Wherry & Sons for all the help and support they have given us since we established the business in 1985 and with the specification of this new truck,” adds Starsmore.
