With a ridge height of 140 ft (42.5m) – as high as eight HGVs – Kimberly-Clark’s new 160,000 sq ft 34m (112ft) high distribution centre in Northfleet, Kent, is set to be one of the tallest warehouse structures in the United Kingdom.
The steelwork and top-out was completed in the late summer 2005 and the building is on schedule for completion now. Distribution property specialist sbh.uk is project managing the work to replace the previous warehouse that was destroyed by a fire.
The facility will hold up to 30,000, three-metre high pallets in the high bay automated warehouse, with low bay storage in a 12m high zone. Admission to the building will be provided by eight level access and three dock doors.
