Palletforce has completed a major investment in a new state-of-the-art IT system, that provides comprehensive real-time ‘track and trace’ for all of the Network’s depots and its customers.
The installation, designed by logistics specialist Trans-aXion, registers every pallet with a unique identification, which is used to trace deliveries throughout the distribution process. A dedicated section of Trans-aXion’s web-site allows customers to chart the progress of pallets in real-time from dispatch to delivery, the latter confirmed by electronic signature capture.
Jayne Hawkes, who led the Palletforce IT Project Team, said: “The Trans-aXion system has been significantly developed to meet our current needs and has the flexibility for the future. Everyone within the Network stands to benefit from this innovation – it is convenient for customers and a highly effective operational tool for Member Depots.”
Neil Gold of Trans-aXion said: “The system has been customised to the Network’s specifications to give Palletforce hands-on control of logistics and traceability data”.
One of the system’s major benefits is that it records a wide variety of operational data, allowing Depots to manage trunk and driver efficiency.
Carl Worgan, operations director at Palletforce, said: “Palletforce’s key requirement was that the system be flexible enough to develop alongside the changing needs of the Network. Trans-aXion was chosen after it met Palletforce’s rigorous selection criteria.”
