PB Logistics, a third party logistics operator, has appointed Conveyors (UK) to help replace its manual handling operation with conveying technology incorporating sequential routing for operators.
Stuart Stables, general manager, said: “Conveyors (UK) was awarded the contract as their interpretation and system proposals provided for a better operative working height, easy access and superior controls, plus they offered the most competitive tender.”
A purpose-designed two tier Powered Roller Conveyor, was installed along the centre of the 1,000 location bulk store to minimise order pick times and despatch of orders in cartons. Operator working heights were considered in great detail to provide for ergonomic working, maximum operator comfort and safety.
The system includes forty-two individual carton movement zones (each 750mm long) and positioned along the complete pick face. These 42 zones are further divided into 19 separate pick areas each controlled by a push-button station acting through a unique ASi (Actuator Sensor Interface) control system developed by Conveyors UK, driving 24V DC brushless motorised rollers.
PB Logistics said: ‘The project was delivered on time, to budget and to our total satisfaction.”
