Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA), the largest Coca-Cola bottler in Asia-Pacific, has commissioned Swisslog as prime contractor for a £13m automated distribution center in Auckland, New Zealand.
The new facility in Auckland will be built on the existing bottling site, with space for 35,000 pallets and will be controlled by Swisslog’s standard software products, Warehouse Manager and Automation Manager/SPOC. The facility will eliminate the costs for five external warehouses and will reduce the working capital as well as the number of heavy vehicle movements in the New Zealand region.
Charles Teissonnière, president of Swisslog’s logistics solutions division, said: “This is the first project for Swisslog in New Zealand and demonstrates the company’s growth and strong position in the Asia-Pacific region.”
The new DC is scheduled to start operation towards the end of 2007.
