Winner: DHL Supply Chain
The shortlist for the first Award for Third Party Logistics Provider of the Year reflects the ability of 3PLs to integrate seamlessly into their customers operations. All the shortlisted companies have taken on significant supply chain responsibility and delivered tangible benefits for customers.
This year the judges were particularly impressed by the entries from Telefónica UK with DHL Supply Chain – in particular with regards the nature of the close collaborative relationship between the two companies. Over the past 18 months multiple supply chain improvement projects have been completed and have resulted in significant improvements to customer satisfaction. DHL has also supported the growth of retailer Debenhams which has seen significant growth in e-commerce. The entry centred on the company’s e-commerce start up operation at Sherburn, Yorkshire, where a close collaborative relationship between retailer and 3PL has produced a slick operation that offers cost efficiencies through a highly scalable operation. The judges were all in agreement that there was one company that demonstrated tremendous enthusiasm at the face-to-face meetings – DHL Supply Chain.
