The award goes to an organisation that has established a unique and highly successful supply chain training programme for its own employees without any outside assistance.
Henkel launched its Global Supply Chain Academy in 2009 in its Laundry and Home Care business unit. Two or three times a year, the academy draws together employees from all around the world at Henkel’s headquarters for three days of lectures and case studies.
The aim is to familiarise employees with the supply chain strategy, challenges, methods and tools.
People are particularly encouraged to gain knowledge of supply chain processes potentially outside their current operational experience to improve their understanding of the entire supply chain.
Senior managers join attendees for “fireside chats” to share experiences and answer questions to build global supply chain team understanding. It is also an opportunity for senior managers to cascade down new strategic focuses.
