NYK Logistics has secured a new five-year contract to manage the parts distribution for one of Nifco UK’s major automotive customers.
The operation based at Sutton in Ashfield, occupies 22,000 sq ft (2,045 sq m) of warehouse space and is supported by a dedicated warehouse team.
The contract also involves Nifco UK transferring its sales office function from Milton Keynes to Sutton in Ashfield, letting around 2,200 sq ft (205 sq m) of office space from NYK. The move will allow for a close working partnership and will help provide a fully transparent operation.
Makoto Watanabe, logistics manager for Nifco UK’s Sutton operation, said: “NYK Logistics has the outstanding automotive experience that will enable us to improve the supply of components to the production facility.”
“They provide a cost effective, fully flexible service that will enable us to strengthen our supply chain while we focus on our core sales activity to expand our operations.”
Nifco is a Japanese automotive component manufacturer, producing a wide range of precision plastic mouldings and fasteners, from plastic rivets and weather strip clips to cup holders and fuel related parts.
The company operates throughout Asia, Europe and the USA. It has a UK manufacturing base located at Stockton-on-Tees, although some parts are supplied (via Nifco UK) from Japan.
