SSI Schaefer has finalised the complete fit-out of a fully integrated, operating warehouse in Rushden, Northamptonshire.
The 15m high facility, will be run by Exel on behalf of Harcourt Education, a publisher of learning resources in both print and electronic formats to schools, colleges and universities.
In a contract worth over one million pounds, the project has brought together the full range of SSI Schaefer products to provide an efficient, free-flowing integrated warehouse facility. Schaefer products implemented into the warehouse include; PR600 Narrow Aisle Pallet Racking, Regal 3000 Shelving, a large timber-decked Mezzanine Floor, Powered Conveyors and ASRS Pickomats.
The Narrow Aisle Pallet installation will accommodate over 30,000 pallets 14m high, providing a buffer stock for the pick face shelving and the ASRS. Located on the first floor of the mezzanine, the shelving, systemised for multi-location storage, will facilitate quick handling, ideal for the storage of the Harcourt extensive product range.
The Regal 3000 Modular Shelving with its adjustable slot in shelves will provide over 40,000 shelf locations. A mezzanine floor, the length of two football pitches has been integrated into the main body of the warehouse, facilitating the optimum use of the building height and storage space. With the use of a conveyor, moving goods from the first floor to the ground floor and onto dispatch, the active flow of goods will be sustained.
Bob Jane, business development manager at SSI Schaefer says; “SSI Schaefer has planned and designed the complete layout of the warehouse from start to finish, bringing a unique style of project management and consultation skills to the overall project. We have ensured the positive integration of a number of different trades into the overall planning and implementation stage, maintaining our reputation as a fully integrated solutions provider.”
