John Lewis, director general of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), says he is “cautiously optimistic” after a meeting with Transport for London (TfL) concerning what the BVRLA calls their “the unfair and unauthorised approach to Congestion Charge penalties.”
The BVRLA recently launched a campaign to highlight what it describes as “the removal of driver and operators’ basic legal rights, achieved in a manner that is entirely outside TfL’s regulatory authority.”
Following the meeting, Lewis said: “While there is still a very long way to go with this matter, we have been heartened by the response from TfL in relation to our problems. They have clearly stated a willingness to consider the key points on which we have been fighting and that is a major breakthrough in its own right.”
