Symbol Technologies has launched the Symbol XR480 EU, an industrial-class RFID reader that supports new European standards and builds on the next generation architecture of the XR RFID reader series.
The XR480 EU reader builds on Symbol’s commercially proven XR400 reader platform that combines Generation 2 (Gen 2) dense-reader mode operation with reliable read performance for industrial-scale implementations.
Designed to operate in the European ETSI 302-208 standard, the Symbol XR480 EU is one of the first commercial EPC-compliant readers to be based on the Windows CE operating system.
By using Windows CE operating system, the XR480 EU RFID reader enables seamless integration and inter-operability with existing IT infrastructure while reducing the support costs associated with multi-platform environments. Symbol says that the XR480 EU is the only commercially available EPC-compliant RFID reader for Europe and provides support for up to eight read points.
