More than three quarters of UK-based senior procurement managers and executives believe that their function is more strategic than it was two years ago, according to a survey carried out by Kalido, a provider of data warehousing and data management software.
Some 62 per cent of the attendees surveyed at the eWorld Purchasing and Supply event in London cited the ability to obtain a single, consolidated view of procurement data across multiple systems and geographies as a top three priority.
The high priority of such projects was attributed by the majority of respondents to strategic drivers such as better spend management, compliance and supplier rationalisation, yet the survey shows that business decisions are frequently based upon ageing operational IT systems and cumbersome reporting methods. Some 57 per cent said they still rely on the manual aggregation of spreadsheets.
