Colin Shepherd has been appointed general manager for Culina Logistics’ new Prime Point distribution centre in Staffordshire. Reporting to managing director, Rien Brakel, Shepherd’s responsibilities will include integration of the 172,000 sq ft chilled facility within the existing network.
Shepherd has managed a wide range of contracts, including; Shell, Flymo, B&Q, Woolworths and John Smiths. He has over 20 years experience and was previously general manager at Wincanton, which he joined in 1986. His key responsibilities will be to develop the Prime Point operation. Shepherd said: “I am very pleased to be joining the company as it embarks on a new and exciting phase of its development.”
John Webb has been appointed as manager, MHE and warehouse operations for the Freight Transport Association. Webb joins the FTA from Jungheinrich (UK) where he has been supply contract manager since 2002. Previously he had spent fifteen years with Asda stores leaving as distribution network project manager.
Alan Osborne, the FTA’s director of audit services said: “John’s appointment gives a national focus for FTA in the provision of services to the warehouse and MHE sectors. The new racking inspection service nicely complements our work inspecting vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, legal, reliable operation.”
Tim Bolam has been appointed business improvement director for Innovate Logistics, to lead the company’s new business integration process. He will report directly to managing director Pete Osborne. Bolam said: “My goal will be to refine the Innovate model and to instil best practice systems and processes across the organisation to ensure we are operating at optimum efficiency and productivity at all times.”
Osborne said: “His role is central to ensuring we remain on track and consistently uphold the best standards in the industry.”
David James, former vice-president of the Automated Materials Handling Solutions Association (AMHSA), has joined Knapp UK. James has been appointed business development director for the Austrian-owned automated logistics systems supplier.
