DHL Exel has opened a new 40,000 sq m DC in Cannock, Staffordshire.
The new site will be managed on behalf of Unilever UK Foods with 200 employees. The site includes some of the latest technology to store, pick, repack and dispatch goods to around 2,000 stores nationwide. Stock includes some of the UK’s best known brands, such as Hellmann’s, PG Tips, Knorr and Lipton.
Kevin Havelock, Unilever’s chairman, said: “We worked very closely with DHL to develop this operation which is located close to transport links and manufacturers across Europe. The technology you see here, managed and operated by DHL, is key in Unilever’s ability to manage the last stages in our supply chain – often the most complex and time critical.”
