Peugeot has announced that it is to close its Ryton assembly plant in Coventry. Production is expected to move to a single shift in July and then to halt completely in mid-2007.
Phil Shankley, managing director of Gefco UK, said: “The decision to close Ryton will not substantially impact on the business development plan which Gefco UK has followed for the last few years in the UK.”
He also went on to say that “Our business base has already diversified considerably and we are keen to continue to serve the market for Automotive Logistics, as well as with our newer customers, who are from a wide range of industries outside the Automotive sector.”
