GCN (Scotland) is trialling a new trailer, which it says is producing fuel savings of around 10 per cent.
The new double-deck, curtain sided trailer has been designed and manufactured in partnership with SDC Trailers of Mansfield and features a sloping roof which reduces drag levels and which GCN (Scotland) says is delivering far more economic fuel consumption levels than a standard curtain sided vehicle, whilst maintaining the same capacity.
Derek Fulton, operations director at GCN, said: “Initial figures for fuel savings are incredible. On average, the new design is returning 0.88 mpg better than its closest rival.”
GCN, which is a founding member of Palletways, has now taken delivery of one of the new trailers in full Palletways livery, following several months of planning and testing.
