Greene King has invested over £8 million in a new bottling hall, in its home town of Bury St Edmunds. Production began on 1 May 2006, producing 25,000 bottles of beer an hour.
Greene King says that the decision to invest was made on the back of a surge in sales of Greene King beers. Neil Jardine, director of Greene King said: “Year on year, from March 2005 to March 2006, we’ve seen our overall beer market share, both in terms of volume and value, increase by 8 per cent.”
