“The government’s guidelines for fuel efficiency in HGV fleets, do not go far enough to encourage haulage companies to adopt industry best practice and reduce their fuel bills”, says Test, a new independent ‘audit’ service.
According to the Transport Efficiency Savings Toolkit (Test), the average truck spends almost one working week a year stuck in traffic, with the problem likely to get worse before it gets better, due to; rising oil prices, EU working time regulations and increasing demands for environmentally-friendlier vehicles.
Test is the brainchild of Keyfuels and Key3 Partners, who say that its aim is to bring the government’s Freight Best Practice guidelines to life, through a root and branch audit of fuel efficiency across thousands of vehicles.
Simon Clifford, sales and marketing director at Keyfuels said: “The government’s Best Practice Guidelines provides excellent advice, but it is too generic for many smaller and medium sized businesses.”
