Toshiba Tec has revealed what it reckons is the world’s first operational Print-on-Tag RFID solution. The B-SX series of bar code label printers use short pitch RFID encoding technology (SPRINT) to print label information straight onto RFID tags.
This eliminates the need to insert the RFID tags behind self-adhesive labels – reducing costs and increasing speed and flexibility. The printer series uses “heads-up” technology where the print head is lifted over the chip to protect not only the sensitive smart labels but also the print head itself.
