Green buildings will become compulsory, warns property consultant King Sturge. New EU legislation and recent changes to Part L of the Building Regulations will change warehouses. Three key requirements of the EU’s Energy Performance of Buildings Directive are:
– minimum energy performance certificates issued on buildings
– all new buildings and existing buildings with a total floor area of more than 1,000 sq m built/ renovated so energy performance meets minimum requirements,
– a regular inspection of boilers and air conditioning systems is undertaken.
