Amtrak Express Parcels has opened a new hub to handle increasing volumes of overnight parcels.
The 65,000 sq ft facility, located at Warrington close to Junction 21 of the M6, will enable the company to handle up to an extra 25,000 parcels per night, for the north west of England and Scotland.
The new hub, which will be employing up to 100 new staff, has been specially designed to handle fragile items using state-of-the-art wireless technology. Handheld scanners allow rapid throughput of parcels hand loaded onto a 70 metre carousel parcel sorter.
