‘Sustainable packaging is coming home’. That’s the message from Protega Global at IntraLogisteX, the premier logistics exhibition taking place at the Coventry Building Society Arena next week (29th & 30th March). The company is keen to show its Hexcel Wrap ‘paper bubble wrap’, the eco-friendly alternative to plastic bubble wrap in the UK.
Hexcel Wrap can be effortlessly wrapped around products to offer protection as good as plastic bubble, but without the impact on the environment. This paper-based packaging can be dispensed anywhere, either from lightweight free-standing dispensers or from an under-the-bench dispenser, both of which have been developed and manufactured in the UK by Protega.
An efficient method for packing fragile goods without the requirement for a power supply or adhesive tape, the Hexcel Wrap is 100% recyclable, offers faster pack times by up to 50% and lower operator footfall for replenishment. This is boosting productivity as well as dramatically reducing the use of plastic.
Protega already manufactures paper void-fill and paper void-fill machines. The Salisbury-based company is now adding Hexcel Wrap to its manufacturing portfolio by producing it in-house. This further reduces customers’ carbon footprint as well as provides a reliable UK supply chain, so vital with the current risks and challenges being experienced in the global marketplace.
Ideal for items such as tableware, glassware, health and beauty products and bottles and jars, Hexcel is a versatile packaging solution. Once wrapped around the product you simply tear and the paper interlocks on itself. With no adhesive tape to remove it also makes it easier for customers to unwrap the products.
“Businesses were crying out for a sustainable alternative that’s as good as plastic bubble wrap and now they’ve got it – the industry-leading paper bubble wrap and dispensing system entirely manufactured in the UK at our Salisbury plant,” said Richard Steedman, Director, Protega. “Sustainable packaging is coming home and visitors attending our stand at IntraLogisteX in the Coventry Building Society Arena will see the future of protective packaging for themselves.”
