A further 27 acres of the former Denby Hall Colliery site in Derbyshire is to be developed for warehousing. The land, on Derby Road, has been bought by the partnership of Peveril Securities and Sladen Estates for more than £6m.
The partners have plans to develop a £26 million scheme totalling 436,000 sq ft. It will retain the Denby Hall name and consist of two industrial/warehouse units of 77,000 sq ft and 116,000 sq ft along with a regional distribution centre of 243,000 sq ft.
Steve Moriarty of joint agents M3 said: “Operators are increasingly aware not just of the advantages of affordable and available labour but also the loyalty and traditional work ethic still thriving in this area. This compares well against historically more established locations where labour is becoming more transient.”
