ABP Connect Cargoflow, the stevedoring wing of ABP Connect, has invested £380,000 in ‘high and heavy’ handling equipment for a new contract with Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics.
The new equipment is being put into operation at Wallenius’ UK service at the Port of Southampton.
‘High and heavy’ cargo or heavy-wheeled and tracked cargo, requires specialist staff and equipment to handle it and Cargoflow has taken delivery of two of the most powerful 4×4 terminal tractors available, as well as a 10-tonne forklift truck, four three-tonne specially adapted forklift trucks, six cargo trailer hooks and a heavy-duty four-wheel-drive vehicle, used for specialist cargo towage.
Cargoflow currently handles around 85 per cent of all the ‘high and heavy’ cargo now passing across ABP Southampton’s quays.
