Eddie Stobart has launched a dedicated rail freight service for Tesco, moving goods from Daventry to Tesco’s distribution centre at Livingston in Scotland. It is the first fully liveried dedicated freight train to go into operation in the UK and is the start of a three-year contract.
Every weekday, Stobart will collect goods from Tesco sites around the Daventry area and deliver them to Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal where they will be loaded onto the train bound for Grangemouth Rail Terminal.
The goods will then be delivered by road to the Livingston DC.
